Bullets Take Tight Tangle
|
Tom Ferguson, who is tied for 7th in the SL in innings pitched with 68.0, was locked in. The right-hander led the Baltimore Bullets to a 4-3 win against the Las Vegas Flamingos at Baltimore Grounds. Ferguson got the win, improving to 3-6. He gave up 7 hits and walked 1 over 8 innings. He allowed 3 runs. Alfonso Crisci earned the save for Baltimore, his 8th of the year.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Wayne Goodman came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Las Vegas pitcher Cipriano Rosas, he hit a 2-2 splitter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Baltimore on top, 4-3.
"We ground out the win," said Ferguson. "That's all that matters."
Las Vegas's current losing streak is now 5 games.
