Behind an impressive start by Jeff McFarland, Mexico City beat Montana, 4-2. McFarland, the winner, moves to 2-2. He threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 10 and giving up 1 walk. Leonard Dennis recorded the save, his 13th.
The result might have been different, had it not been for 28-year old second baseman Ángel Soto. Soto had a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Blue Demons ahead, 4-2. For the game, Soto had 1 double and 3 singles in 4 at-bats.
McFarland attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."
