Lakers Victorious at Mexico City, 5-3
|
Starting pitcher Bobby Monroe pitched well enough to help the Echo Park Lakers beat the Mexico City Blue Demons, 5-3. The winner was Monroe. He threw 7.1 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Jeff McFarland. Francisco Aguilar nailed down his 3rd save.
In the bottom of the ninth, Ángel Soto stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Blue Demons were trailing 5-3, but had runners on 1st and 2nd. That's when Francisco Aguilar made a terrific pitch and Soto struck out. Gone was the dream of a Mexico City comeback.
The Lakers are now 29-24, while the Blue Demons fall to 25-28.
