Kingfishers Take Nail-Biter Over Liberty
|
The Pittsburgh Kingfishers and Philadelphia Liberty put on quite a show.
The Pittsburgh Kingfishers had to overcome a good performance from Philadelphia pitcher Bob Hickey to claim a 3-1 win at Pittsburgh Grounds. Hickey went 9.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Reliever Frank Gagnon picked up the win. His record improves to 4-1. Dick Hill, who led the SL in saves with 26 in 2060, took the loss.
The decisive blow was delivered in the bottom of the 14th when Tom Servo hit a 2-run home run off 11-year veteran Dick Hill to win the game for Pittsburgh. The home crowd went wild.
"Great to get the crowd on its feet," Servo said.
Pittsburgh is now 30-26, Philadelphia 33-23.
