Flamingos Topple Cattlemen, 5-2, as Ramírez Shines
|
The Las Vegas Flamingos dealt the Ft. Worth Cattlemen a 5-2 loss at The Cattle Pen. Jeffrey Ramírez, who is tied for 7th in the SL in triples with 2, was the star on offense. He was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Steven Weaver, who is tied for 9th in the SL in quality starts with 7, was the winner. He's now 1-5. The loser was Qu-bing Li. The save went to Cipriano Rosas, his 2nd this season.
Ramírez had a crucial hit for Las Vegas with one out in the top of the fourth. With Las Vegas trailing 1-0, Ramírez hit a 2-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Flamingos ahead, 2-1.
"I think every team will tell you that the pitching sets the tone, especially the starters," said Las Vegas skipper Tom Williams.
Las Vegas, with the win, climbs to 18-39.
