Bullets Sting Kingfishers, 2-1
|
Baltimore Bullets starter Larry Wallace turned in a top-notch performance against the Pittsburgh Kingfishers at Baltimore Grounds. The result was a win for the Bullets, 2-1. The winning pitcher was Wallace, now 4-2. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 8. Alfonso Crisci collected save number 9.
Tom Bleasdale hit a solo home run off Nick Snyder in the bottom of the fifth, which put the Bullets ahead, 2-1. In addition to the homer, Bleasdale had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Wallace. "Successful pitchers do it."
Baltimore goes to 24-36, Pittsburgh to 33-27.
