Las Vegas designated hitter Juan Díaz had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Díaz was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once, even as Mexico City beat the Flamingos, 7-5. Mexico City is now 28-33, while Las Vegas is 19-42.

Mexico City used a timely hit from Artie Banks to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Blue Demons ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Banks.
