Saikaku Kato, who finished 4th in the PL in wins above replacement with 4.2 in 2057, had a direct impact on the outcome. Kato contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put New Orleans up, 2-0.

Kato called the win a test of his team's "mettle."
