3AAA Selects Uemura June's #1 Pitcher Sunday, July 1st , 2063 The Norfolk Pajaritos celebrated today after the news filtered through the clubhouse that Sumiteru Uemura had been selected as June's M3L Triple A Pitcher of the Month. Uemura's zest for the game has been a frequent topic on the sports pages and his numbers of late have made his fans even more enthusiastic. "Our coaching staff really helps me prepare well," Uemura said, "and the fans feed off good pitching. Your pitches just seem to have that extra pop to them when the fans are behind you and you feel confident you can get outs." Uemura tossed 32.2 innings last month, holding opponents to a .219 average while striking out 22 batters. In 4 starting assignments he came away with a 4-0 record, putting together an ERA of 2.76. To date this season, Uemura sports a 6-0 mark with a 3.92 ERA in 8 starting assignments. He has held the opposition to a .246 batting average and has 41 strikeouts in 57.1 innings. |
