Total Control: Westwood No-Hit by Smith
Tuesday, June 5th , 2063
It was a fantastic day for Yakima Hops starter Clay Smith and a lousy day for the Westwood Sixshooters.
The Yakima hurler's pitching artistry completely befuddled and bewildered the Sixshooters, as the Hops cruised to a 5-0 win. When it was all over, Smith was credited with one of the rarer feats in baseball -- a no-hitter.
"The ball was moving and darting, and best of all, going where I wanted it to go," Smith said later.
He rang up 8 strikeouts and allowed 4 walks while shutting Westwood down at Hops Park.
To date this season, Smith has registered 5 starts, 2-2 won-lost mark, 4.75 ERA, 30.1 IP, 20 strikeouts and 12 walks. Opposing teams have hit .250 against him.
